Transport Ministry issues circular announcing regulating vessel activities in waters of Al Safliya Island

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport issued circular announcing that it is activating a plan to regulate marine vessel activities within the waters of Al Safliya Island.

The circular addressed “all parties concerned, owners, operators, lessees of marine vessels, and marina officials,” and comes as part of the Ministry “continuing its endeavors to regulate maritime operations, enhance safety and security, and protect marine environment in accordance with the applicable laws.” 

The plan, the Ministry said, is as follows:    
•    (a) The Northern Sector: is allocated for marine sports activities by jet skis, and jetboats only.
•    (b) The Southern Sector: is for yachts, launches, boats and other similar marine vessels, and they are permitted to anchor therein for a limited time.

All concerned parties, the Ministry added, are urged to adhere to this circular as per the provisions of the laws in effect and avoid any action that may lead to potential legal accountability, before adding that “this circular takes effect as soon as it is released.”
