Doha, Qatar: Al Ahli and Al Sadd secured their places in the semifinals of the Amir Cup basketball competition for the 2025–2026 season after quarterfinal wins over Al Wakrah and Al Shamal at Al Gharafa Hall yesterday.
Al Ahli defeated Al Wakrah 85-72 in a tightly contested game. Al Ahli led 18–10 in the first quarter, Al Wakrah responded 20-18 in the second, before Al Ahli took control with a 25-15 third quarter. Despite Al Wakrah edging the fourth 27-24, the result was already decided.
In the second quarter-final, Al Sadd defeated Al Shamal 107-96 after a strong second-half surge.
Al Shamal led the first half 24-21 and 28-20, but Al Sadd responded with a dominant 38-17 third quarter and closed the game 28-27 in the fourth.
The semi-finals will be held on May 4 at Al Gharafa Hall while the final is scheduled for May 6.
